What is Design?
While art can cater to aesthetics, a successful design has to be function as intended. Design is often a creation method meant to be accessible to a broad group of people, and it usually has a stricter creation process than other methods. In architectural design, the means of construction have to be more rigid to ensure the finished product is applicable to a large group of people.
For example, a door is understood by the public to open backwards or forwards. However, a door that opens up and down like a windowpane would not be an user friendly or intuitive design. In that case, the design of the door would need to be replanned, reworked and retested to ensure it functions as needed for the people who will use the building in the futureArt, unlike design, just has to be constructed by someone. Maybe that purpose is unknown to anyone but the artist. Art can be a very individualistic pursuit, while design has to conform to a set of rules to ensure the product is successful.
