Knowledge and Creativity
Creativity Versus Knowledge
Creativity contrasts but also relies on knowledge. I think it would be hard to create or write anything unless I can draw on knowledge from reality, like history or an object in front of me. Mathematical ratios and geometry are also part of various methods of artistic creation that could be considered more similar to scientific knowledge than creativity.
Knowledge and creativity can improve one's intuition and increase an individual's ability to implement solutions to problems. Knowledge increases one's view of the world, but it is very rigid; it exists by reinforcing the notion that there are only wrong or right, yes or no answers to questions. In comparison, creativity does not conform to exacting standards and instead often favors a critical view that a question might have multiple solutions.
In favor of knowledge of answers that can be easily quantified as right or wrong, creativity and the ability to think flexibly on a subject are considered less critical in the public eye, but I believe creativity throughout history has and will continue to be essential in finding solutions to a set problem and expressing new ideas.
